Hi... We were just at our cabin in Morris. I had no idea all those foundations were on Landrus road! We will go exploring them in August. Are most of them across the road from the stone marker and up the side of the mountain? Where is the mine located? Is it across 287 near rattler road or towards Arnot? Are there ruins left from the mine? The ponds on Landrus road near Arnot, are they holding ponds from the mine? Also...is your Landrus blog up and running? I couldn't connect.
any other good sites around Morris?

I have been metal detecting heavily in Clearfield County and would like to expand to Center or other Counties. I collect artifacts and display them to each area I find them. I operate by "permission only" and totally respect individual property. Is there any old Ghost towns like Landrus in Tioga County or Oleana in Potter County that can be explored legally? If anyone knows of an old, old, old, homestead that I can explore and photograph, I would like to know about it,

Hi, answer to the first question, I just haven't put up my photo of the Berguson sign yet. You can see a photo of it at my Landrus blog http://landrus.blogspot.com.
Second, yes, there were people living there before 1882 - 1882 was when it was declared a town, sawmill was built and more people started moving in.
Third, the town was named after Blossburg Coal Company worker/foreman Henry Jackson Landrus. He never actually lived in the town. Please leave an email in future comments so that I may reply to you.

Hi, I'm not sure who is leaving all these snippy unregistered comments on here, but I have 1000's of photos to label, and I will get to the Landrus ones when i get to them.

Sarah, the pictures are nice but it would be cool if you added descriptions so other people would know what they are looking at...I visit this area from time to time so I can pretty close guess what they are...some of your photos are obvious but others are not

I wonder why there is a picture of this marker and not the one installed by the berguson family who had a family member that actually lived in Landrus? and there were people living in the town Before 1882..

You may be surprised but my first name is Landrus and I was wondering if there was any more information on where the name came from or who the town was named after. I am trying to do my family tree and this came up and it is so interesting.
