Bedroom - Before cleaning
Date: 08/03/2010
Part one of cleaning behind the gear shelves in our bedroom. This is before cleaning. It took a while to carefully clean out all of the stuff on the shelves - all of it had to be washed (if possible) or thrown away.

NASTY bucket of mold water!
Date: 08/03/2010
One of many buckets of disgusting black water I ended up with while cleaning this stuff...

More Bedroom - before cleaning
Date: 08/03/2010
This is about 3 feet away from where Ben lays his head to sleep.
Tub
Date: 08/03/2010
This tub has seen way better days. Our well water is what makes it orange, but it is all scratched and the scratches grow mold and mildew - it's pretty much embedded in the tub.
Behind Tiolet
Date: 08/03/2010
Behind the toilet is completely rotten with mold, as is the floor around it. The large black part is a board that has always seemed out of place - I believe it was placed there to cover up the existing damage.
Front Porch
Date: 08/03/2010
Yes, there's mold outside too. Above the black stuff you can see very old paint that is peeling, however, below where it is black, the paint looks much newer. Again, I believe that this could have been painted to cover up existing mold.
Moldy items
Date: 08/03/2010
A couple moldy items that I will try to clean because they have sentimental value. You can see visible mold on the brim of the hat and the small white dots on the canteen cover.
Kitchen mold
Date: 08/03/2010
This is the back corner of our kitchen. The wood to the right is a hutch that my dad built to help with storage in the kitchen. The bottom of it is ruined from this moisture and mold (see next photo).
Damaged furniture (in kitchen)
Date: 08/03/2010
This is an unfinished pine hutch that my dad made for us. You can see the wetness line on the foot/leg.
More bedroom mold
Date: 08/03/2010
This is right behind our bed. This is still moldy - I was unable to clean this portion when I did the rest because the bed is in the way.
More bedroom mold 2
Date: 08/03/2010
This is on the other side of the bedroom, near my side of the bed. I was just barely able to clean some of the wall to the right, which is why you see a line where the mold stops. I was unable to move the shelves (and other furniture) on the left to clean the rest of the wall. It is very bad.
Mold in my closet
Date: 08/03/2010
This is mold starting to break through the outside of this paneling behind my closet. Again, I believe the paneling may be an addition that was put in to hide the deterioration.
More baseboard mold
Date: 08/03/2010
This is in the laundry room. It is moldy all the way around the room at the baseboard.
DANGER ZONE! (bathroom)
Date: 08/03/2010
The portion of the floor marked out as the "DANGER ZONE" (which needs to be expanded now) is where the sub-floor is gone underneath. It all sags a couple inches if you stand on or near it. The toilet moves when you sit down on it. The bathroom is very tiny (literally a "water closet") and with nearly half the floor rotted out, it is very hard to maneuver around in there. I added the "Danger Zone" on the floor because I want to make sure any guests know what they're dealing with.
